IBA Staff Tom Abernethy Coach Abernethy is the owner of the Indiana Basketball Academy (IBA). Founded in 1996, IBA is committed to providing the highest level of training by quality coaching staff in the Midwest. Coach Abernethy's visions is to provide each player with respect and encouragement while developing basketball skills. Additionally, he has a goal of using basketball to teach life and character lessons. Coach Abernethy played on the 1976 Indiana University basketball team that won the National Championship, which remains the last college basketball team to finish a season undefeated. He was drafted into the NBA by the Los Angeles Lakers and also spent time with the Golden State Warriors and the Indiana Pacers. Andrew White Andrew is a native of South Bend where he was Player of the Year for Northern Indiana at Penn High School. His college career at Central Michigan and Ball State University was cut short by knee injuries. Andrew is considered one of the top basketball trainers in the Central Indiana area and loves working with players of all skill levels, from those children just starting out to those with NBA aspirations. Andrew is a firm believer that building a strong base of fundamental skills is the key to success in basketball. Andrew and his wife, Sylvia, are the parents of son George and daughter Hazel. Andrew has been at the Indiana Basketball Academy since 2003. Jim Crews Coach Crews comes to the Indiana Basketball Academy after serving as Head Coach at the University of St. Louis where he won Coach of the Year honors in Division 1 basketball. Coach Crews was also the head coach at the University of Evansville and the United States Military Academy. Coach Crews played on the 1976 NCAA Championship-winning team at Indiana University which was the last undefeated team in Division 1! Coach Crews has been invaluable in working with our coaching staff on training players and preparing them for the next level.
