COVID-19

UPDATES AT THE INDIANA BASKETBALL ACADEMY

Updated November 1st, 2020

We have been closely monitoring and following the guidelines for COVID-19 so that we can continue providing the safest environment for our players, parents, and staff to the best of our abilities.  In compliance with Federal, State and local safety guidelines we continue to update our procedures to support the health of our players, families and communities.

IBA Staff and Facility

  • IBA Staff are trained on social distancing, sanitation, cleaning hands often, and respecting space while talking with players and families.  Staff will continue to wear facial masks.

  • IBA Staff will be required to check their temperatures upon arrival each day and required to stay home if they are sick.  Anyone exhibiting symptoms related to COVID-19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath) will not be allowed to participate and sent home immediately.

  • Frequently touched surfaces will be sanitized regularly throughout the day.   The entire facility will be thoroughly cleaned at the conclusion of each day with an EPA/CDC recommended disinfecting solution.

  • Team Schedules and Rosters will be kept on file to track attendance.

  • Symptom Precaution Signage, Social Distancing Signage, and Proper Hand-washing Signage can be seen throughout the building.  Floor and seat markers are in place to remind and encourage social distancing and frequent hand-washing.

Players and Parents

  • PARENTS ARE CONSIDERED TO BE THE FIRST LINE OF SAFETY DEFENSE.  IN ALLOWING THEIR CHILD TO PARTICIPATE IN A GAME, THEY ARE CONFIRMING THEIR CHILD, AND ANYONE IN THEIR HOUSEHOLD, IS NOT EXHIBITING ANY SYMPTOMS RELATED TO COVID-19.

  • To keep gym capacity low, we ask the parents remain in their cars for practice or simply drop players off.  We will have a coach at the lobby door to ensure your players get in safely and report to the right court.

  • Several Hand Sanitizing Stations are available around the gym for participants and guests.

  • The water fountain is unavailable during this time.  Players should bring a waterbottle or purchase drinks in concessions.

  • Players should bring their own ball to practices for individual drill work.

  • All spectators are required to wear masks.  Players are required to wear masks upon entering and leaving the facility.

IYBL League Game Guidelines

  • Players may have up to 2 spectators for games.  Families may sit together but should sit distanced from others.

  • Games will be played with 18-minute running halves, but scheduled so that there are 15 minutes of time in between sets of games to allow for cleaning. Benches, scorer’s tables, and the clock will all be sanitized in between each game.

  • Do NOT enter the buildings until doors are propped open. Doors will be locked 5 minutes into gameplay and propped open when the next round of games are allowed to enter. Please exit promptly after your game so the next round can begin to enter the building.

  • Referees and all staff will be temperature checked upon arrival to the facility.

  • The basketball being used in the game will be sanitized before the game.

  • There will be no post-game handshake line to prevent extra contact.

  • Facemasks will be required for all fans and coaches during this timeframe. The facility staff will all be wearing facemasks as well.

  • Hand sanitizer will be available for all fans and players.
